but your examples actually could be used to support mine, that Holland is quite different from Greenwich/Warwick. because, we do not hear as much complain from other provinces in netherland as from the scotts and welsh, do we?

the real problem we have with ‘greenwich’, is that given the Toad’s track record, he would quite predictably show off his knowledge about ‘grenich’ if he is aware of that tidbit. it follows that the fact that he did not grab that opportunity to show off implies he did not know.
and since we are almost certain that he should know about Warwick (unless his resume is fake), he is really a bad language learner when he failed to generalize his knowledge on warwick to greenwich.

btw, is there an episode on the town of warwick in that travelogue series? i wonder what he said about that little town.

1. Holland is not from an English word. It is Dutch. Many Europeans (eg French) call Holland “Hollanda”
2. Calling the Netherlands “Holland” is like calling the UK “England”. Nothing wrong with it.

由於日前初次到此網, 看見blog主以長篇副批評陶傑, 而且口吻輕挑, 與其批評林行止的口吻判若兩人, 誤以為blog主是那種只會亂戴 “自命才子”帽子, 亂罵 “只能用來呃無知妹妹仔” 的自以為 “言而有物”之徒, 所以出言回應,
之後再細讀blog主之其他文章, 發現blog主之所以長篇大論, 是因為blog主在論證的時候常提出許多不同証據去支持自己的理論,而且小心查證, 而這正是現在香港社會, 甚至中國人社會一直缺少的,
